Our Story

Opened in 2022, Bluestem Garden Works is a full service landscape company and nursery.  Originally from the Sleepy Eye/ Comfrey area, owner Michael Sprenger started Bluestem Garden Works after the purchase of the current property.

 

With over 10 years of hands-on experience in the industry and degrees in Horticulture and Landscape Design, Michael has developed a keen eye for landscape design and is passionate about finding solutions for your landscape needs.

Michael will approach each project with attention to detail and work closely with the clients to understand their needs and preferences.   The goal is to create spaces that reflect your needs and sustain long into the future while being practical and easy to maintain.

Bluestem is centrally located between area towns on a paved county road just west of HWY 4.  You can't miss the greenhouses.

Bluestem specializes in full service landscape design and installation. Our services range from planting a single yard tree from our nursery stock to completing a full landscape makeover. Whether you are looking for a low maintenance design or something with a little more flash, give Bluestem a call.

Spring Nursery Sale

Each spring we open our doors for our annual nursery sale to kick off the season.   At our sale you will find a full inventory of trees, shrubs, perennials in all sizes and tons of home and outdoor decor.  You can also browse our greenhouses full of annuals, vegetables, and hanging baskets.

Please check our hours and dates before you make the trip. 

We do adjust the hours during summer.
